Skeleton

2023

I chose to make this image because it represents the core value of authenticity that I hold dear. The shadow of the skeleton in the image resonates with me as it symbolizes the concept of death, which is a reminder of the importance of living authentically. As Martin Heidegger suggests, anticipating the authentic experience of death is crucial in embracing our true selves, and this photograph captures that notion perfectly.

The halo around the girl’s face in the photograph also speaks to me on a personal level. It represents life and serves as a contrast to the shadow of the skeleton, reminding me that living authentically means embracing life’s fleeting nature while staying true to who I am. The use of blue and red colors in the image is also significant, as it creates a dynamic and vibrant image that draws my attention.

The blue color in the photograph represents stability, trust, and calmness, while the red symbolizes passion, energy, and excitement. Finding a balance between these two is essential to me, and the use of these colors in the image is a reflection of that idea.

Living authentically is about being true to oneself, even in the face of societal pressures or expectations. It means embracing who we are, flaws and all, and living in a way that aligns with our values and beliefs. This can be a difficult task, as it requires vulnerability and courage, but it is ultimately rewarding. When we live authentically, we experience a sense of freedom and fulfillment that is hard to find elsewhere. We are able to connect more deeply with others and form genuine relationships based on mutual respect and understanding. In a world that often values conformity over individuality, living authentically is a radical act of self- love and a testament to our uniqueness as human beings.

In conclusion, I chose to make this photography because it beautifully captures the essence of living authentically and reminds me of the importance of staying true to myself.
